SEPHORA 500 POINTS REWARD | DIOR

There have been so many complaints about Sephora's rewards system.

One of the new 500 points reward

Basically, how the system works is for every dollar you spend, you get a point.
It sounds good ideally but to claim something as small as a sample size product, you have to have at least 100 points meaning you've spent at least $100 on products.
To be honest, $100 on make up and/or skin care products is no biggie because they can cost a lot of money.
But then, every month, Sephora gives you these 250 points which are usually perfumes or 500 points which are a collection of deluxe samples from a brand. That's where your points can fly off really fast.

I have over 2000 points saved up in my account because honestly, there really has been anything that I wanted to spend my points on - for the 500 mark that is.

I've been waiting for over a year now and I've noticed something really sad happening.
The 500 mark rewards usually contained 5 samples inside, assuming each was worth 100. Which adds up and makes sense.
However, they've only contained 4 samples about a year now and I think it's a bit hard for people to shallow the idea that they are throwing 100 points away to get nothing in return.

After a while waiting, I got an email saying that they have a new reward for 500 points, in this case, 4 Dior deluxe samples with one small cosmetic bag.
I've actually gotten quite a lot of those from Lancome or Chanel because every department store you go to, if you buy a certain amount from them, they will sometimes have an event where they give you a cosmetic bag filled with a bunch of samples - and let me be clear, I've never spent $500 to get them. The max I spent was $250 and I already received a bunch of samples.

Of course I thought spending 500 points was a bit crazy but who knows when they'll have something that I think is a bit worth it so I decided to spurge. Which in trade, made for a good review post, in case anyone is looking to see if they are still deciding if they want to spend that many points.

The box containing the reward is quite simple and might I add, chic. It's probably just because there are no bright disturbing colors and the white boxes with the Dior on a white wall really goes well together.

The box really is just a white box with the word Dior on it which is really how every single box from the brand is.

The cosmetic bag is a bright fuchsia pink.

Truth be told, the color is not my favorite, I would've settled for a more subtle color but I guess it would be just fine for carrying travel items around. The material is nylon like so I doubt it's fragile.

Like I've said, the 500 point reward contains 4 deluxe samples and in this case, I would guess they decided that the pouch itself was the 5th.

Inside, there's a skin serum, mascara, lip gloss and a mini perfume.

     1. The Dior Capture Totale DreamSkin - LINK to full size

To me, this product has a strong fragrance and honestly I think my mom would like it a lot better than I would just because it's leaning to the anti-aging category.

The full size product is $115 so I think this deluxe size could last someone about a week or so depending on how much you use it. Just enough to test the product to see if you like it or not.

     2. The Dior Show Iconic Overcurl Mascara - LINK to full size here

I will admit that mascara samples are truly my favorite because they last me forever!

I can't remember the last time I actually bought a full size mascara. LOL. I've been using deluxe size sample mascaras and they have yet to fail me.

The bristles are not harsh like some I've experienced but for me, it doesn't exactly last the whole day and it doesn't really hold in the curls for my Asian type lashes.

     3. The Dior 'Addict' Lip Maximizer - LINK to full size here

Lip gloss has never really been my thing. I've loved matte lipsticks all my life and every single time I've ever tried lip gloss on, it felt extremely sticky and usually I would remove it right away.
Let me tell you this is a tiny tiny container and I wouldn't be surprised if it would only was enough for one time application on my lips - if you have fuller lips I doubt it'll even last longer and maybe you could stretch and get more uses out of it if you had thinner lips.

     4. Miss Dior Eau De Parfum - LINK to full size

To be honest, I love the design of the Miss Dior bottle more than I actually like the smell.
It sort of smells like a young grandma to me. I guess the smell isn't the right smell for me.

Normally, I keep the bottle and the perfume inside as a tiny display because I don't actually use it but the smell is quite strong I believe it got onto everything inside the cosmetic bag so I'll just keep it there as a little pouch air freshener.

To be honest, if you asked me if I regret spending 500 points on this reward, I most likely will say yes because I can only use 2 out of the 5 things included but if you like Dior beauty products (I do like some, not all of the products), I think you would appreciate the reward more than I would.

All for now,
